Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsVolusia County is growing faster than 91% of counties, and that changes how SEO should be built here. We are an SEO agency built for small businesses: pages for each city you serve, Google Maps and AI search work, and flat monthly plans with no contracts. Below is the data behind the Volusia County market.
The market in numbers
Local Search Competition Index
73.2/ 100
Rank 199 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and also 82 of the 400 markets we cover. More local businesses chasing the same searches pushes the score up. How the index is built
We score every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (such as the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) are chasing the same residents. Volusia County scores 73.2, which is more contested than most.
What shapes SEO in Volusia County is more than the score. It is one of the quicker-growing counties in the country, and it is a county with many sizeable cities and towns. Below, eight measures set it beside every other county.
Each bar sets Volusia County among all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
Where the customers are
Place-by-place population from the latest Census Bureau estimates. People search by town name, so each of these is a separate set of searches and a possible landing page for each service you offer.
| Community | Residents (2023 est.) | Share of county |
|---|---|---|
| Deltona | 98,739 | 17% |
| Daytona Beach | 82,485 | 14% |
| Port Orange | 65,966 | 11% |
| Ormond Beach | 44,277 | 8% |
| DeLand | 43,009 | 7% |
| New Smyrna Beach | 32,655 | 6% |
Data: Census Bureau Population Estimates. Places here means cities, towns and census-designated places; where a city spills into a neighboring county, just the portion inside Volusia County is counted.
Market profile
With 590,357 residents and 6.7% growth since the 2020 Census (ahead of 91% of counties), Volusia County keeps adding people who have no loyalty to any local business yet. Their first move is a search, which is exactly what a search engine optimization campaign is built to win, and rankings earned during a growth phase tend to carry into the years after it.
No single place dominates Volusia County: the largest, Deltona, has about 17% of residents, and others include Daytona Beach (82,485), Port Orange (65,966), Ormond Beach (44,277) and DeLand (43,009). Searchers use their own town's name, so each place is its own ranking opportunity.
20% of residents (119,225 people) live outside any incorporated place, so county-level and "near me" searches matter as much as city names.
Where demand is heading
New homes authorized by building permits. Source: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (annual files by county, plus a year-to-date comparison of identical months). Keep in mind that permits are approvals, not completed homes.
Volusia County authorized 5,508 housing units in 2022 and 2,820 in 2025, about 49% fewer; 2025 still works out to 47.8 units per 10,000 residents, more than in 71% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 1,418 against 2,159 a year earlier (−34.3%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in Volusia County are real estate agents and brokers (2.6x typical) and landscaping services (1.8x typical). Because SEO builds gradually, the best time to start is before demand arrives; new households meet the pages that are already indexed and ranking.
Your competition
We divide each local-search category's employer locations by population and compare that with the median county. Read 2.0x as two times the businesses per resident a typical county has.
Crowding compares employer locations per 10,000 residents with the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Figures are establishments from the Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about search volume. See the method
In Volusia County, the real estate agents and brokers category is the most contested, with 389 locations at 2.6 times the typical density, up 47.9% since 2017. Landscaping services (352 locations, 1.8x) and janitorial services (156 locations, 1.7x) also run above a normal county. At the other end, the general automotive repair category (142 locations) is below typical density at 0.9x, which means fewer competing sites to outrank.
Real estate agents and brokers is also the fastest-growing category, up 47.9%, so the competition is still building. Physicians offices went the other way, down 13.7% to 383 locations. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 360 of 389 locations (93%) have fewer than five employees.
This is a picture of the competition, not of demand. How many people search for a service and how quickly a page can rank depend on factors public data does not show, so a crowded category calls for planning and a quiet one is an opening.

SEO is a monthly investment that builds over time, so the question that matters is how many new customers it must bring in to cover itself. Tell the calculator what a customer is worth and which plan you are weighing.
FAQ
Pricing is a flat monthly fee. RankGuarantee™, our local landing page system, is $495 a month on its own. Organic Growth plans, which add Google Maps work, AI search optimization, content and more landing pages, are $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum). No setup fee, no contract.
No honest SEO provider can give a fixed timeline. Results build gradually and depend on the competition, your website and what we can publish. Real estate agents and brokers is the most contested category in Volusia County at 2.6x typical, so it is the one to be patient with. You see the movement every month in six-month planning cycles, and you can cancel anytime.
More than most. Volusia County scores 73.2 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 199th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 82nd of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers leads on density, at 2.6 times the typical county. 63.6% of local-search locations are tiny, with fewer than five employees, and tiny shops often have thin websites to outrank. That raises the value of city-and-service pages and strong reviews.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Volusia County are full-service restaurants (524), real estate agents and brokers (389) and physicians offices (383). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are real estate agents and brokers (2.6x) and landscaping services (1.8x). A large or crowded category does not settle whether SEO will work for you; it only shows how many other sites you would share the results with.
The ones you serve. Volusia County has 14 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Deltona, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Ormond Beach and DeLand. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
Yes. All Organic Growth plans include Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, together with on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Maps rankings carry the most weight for "near me" searches, and much of what people search for in Volusia County depends on them.
It can. Our plans include AI search (GEO) optimization: well-structured pages and consistent business details give AI tools more to work with. Nobody can guarantee an AI mention, and we do not promise one, but the same work that earns rankings builds the content those tools use.
Usually a mix of both. Google Ads can send calls within days and costs per click; SEO takes longer to build and keeps working without a per-click charge. When you need leads right away, begin with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and let SEO build the asset that reduces your reliance on them.
No contract, no setup fee, cancel anytime. The monthly fee covers onboarding (keyword research, a website audit and a six-month strategy), the landing pages and content in your plan, ongoing page management and rank tracking, and one dedicated account manager who reports to you each month.
