Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsBefore choosing an SEO agency in Yakima County, study the field: Yakima County has 10 places of 2,500 or more residents. We provide search engine optimization for local businesses on flat monthly plans, with no setup fee and no contract, and the numbers below are our starting point.
Market at a glance
Local Search Competition Index
44.4/ 100
Sitting at rank 1,093 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 352 of the 400 markets we cover. The higher the score, the more local businesses are competing for the same searches. How the score works
We grade every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) compete for the same customers. Yakima County scores 44.4, which is less contested than most.
Two things stand out about Yakima County: it is a county with many sizeable cities and towns, and it is a county whose population is flat or shrinking. The eight measures that follow place it among each other county.
Each bar sets Yakima County among all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
The search picture
Yakima County has 10 places with 2,500 or more residents, 3 of them above 10,000, more than 93% of counties. Each is its own search market: people look for a plumber in Yakima or in the next town over, not in the county. Local SEO means giving each of those cities its own page for each service you offer, which is what RankGuarantee™ is built to produce.
Yakima County has 256,643 residents, which ranks 279th of 3,143 U.S. counties, and the headcount has shifted 0% since the 2020 Census. Across all industries it has 4,978 employer locations, 19.4 per 1,000 residents.
34% of residents (87,454 people) live outside any incorporated place, so county-level and "near me" searches matter as much as city names.
Your competition
The table below measures Yakima County against the typical U.S. county for fifteen categories that live on Google and the map: how many locations there are, how that has changed, and how many are very small.
Crowding is employer locations per 10,000 residents relative to the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). The counts are establishments in County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not search volumes. How we calculate this
The residential remodelers category is the most contested in Yakima County: 109 locations, 1.4x the density of a typical county, and up 47.3% since 2017. Electrical contractors (71 locations, 1.2x) and law offices (89 locations, 1.2x) also run above a normal county. The physicians offices category is the least contested here at 0.7x typical (73 locations), so there are fewer rival pages for those searches.
Residential remodelers is also the fastest-growing category, up 47.3%, so the competition is still building. Physicians offices went the other way, down 34.8% to 73 locations. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 46 of 50 locations (92%) have fewer than five employees.
One caution: the table counts businesses, not searches. We do not have, and do not claim, search volumes or traffic for any keyword; a crowded category means more sites in the race, not a prediction of results.
Where demand is heading
New homes authorized by building permits. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Building Permits Survey (county annual files, and the year-to-date bars compare the same months each year). Permits count homes approved to be built, not homes completed.
Yakima County authorized 1,103 housing units in 2021 and 696 in 2025, about 37% fewer; 2025 still works out to 27.1 units per 10,000 residents, less than in 51% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 477 against 508 a year earlier (−6.1%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in Yakima County are roofing contractors (2.2x typical) and residential remodelers (1.4x typical). Because search rankings take time to build, a rise in permits is a reason to start now, and falling permits are a reason to emphasize repair, replacement and service-specific pages.

Look-alikes are the six counties in our 400-market set closest to this one on size, income, local-search competition, small-business mix and growth. Same sources as above.
Elkhart County, IN is the closest match, scoring 52.8 against Yakima County's 44.4. Shawnee County, KS is the furthest from it, scoring 55.4. The small-business mix differs too: 54.8% of Elkhart County, IN's locations have fewer than five employees, against 57.5% here. If you already invest in SEO in one of these markets, the comparison shows how similar the competition is, not what your results will be.

Common questions
Our fees are flat and monthly with no setup fee and no contract: $495 for RankGuarantee™ landing pages, or $1,495, $2,495 or $3,495 for the Silver, Gold and Platinum Organic Growth plans. Gold and Platinum include a fully managed, custom-built website.
Nobody can promise a date for SEO, because it builds gradually. How fast pages climb depends on how crowded your category is, how strong your website and Google Business Profile are, and how much we can publish. In Yakima County, residential remodelers is especially contested (1.4x a typical county), so expect that category to take longer. We plan in six-month cycles, with no contract, and report monthly.
Less than most. Yakima County scores 44.4 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 1093rd of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 352nd of the 400 markets we cover. Residential remodelers, at 1.4 times the typical county. 57.5% of local-search locations have fewer than five employees, which commonly means thin websites to outrank. That argues for starting early: consistent SEO tends to hold ground where fewer rivals are building.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Yakima County are full-service restaurants (159), residential remodelers (109) and law offices (89). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are residential remodelers (1.4x) and electrical contractors (1.2x). Size and crowding in a category do not decide whether SEO works for you; it only shows how many other sites you would share the results with.
Whichever ones you cover. Yakima County has 10 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Yakima, Sunnyside, Grandview, Toppenish and Selah. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
We do. Every Organic Growth plan includes Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, plus on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Maps rankings matter most for searches like "near me", and much of what people search for in Yakima County depends on them.
It may. Our plans include AI search (GEO) optimization: clear, well-structured pages and consistent business information give AI tools more to draw on. Nobody can guarantee an AI mention, and we do not promise one, but the same work that earns rankings builds the content those tools use.
Frequently both. Google Ads can bring calls within days, but each click costs money; SEO takes longer but keeps working with no per-click charge. If leads cannot wait, start with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and let SEO build the asset that reduces your reliance on them.
There is no setup fee, and you can cancel anytime. Each month you get the keyword research, website audit and six-month strategy up front, then the pages and content in your tier, rank tracking, and a single account manager familiar with your Yakima County business.
