Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsBefore you hire an SEO company in Cobb County, look at the field: Cobb County is a high-income market. GetPhound delivers SEO for local businesses on monthly plans that are flat, with no setup fee or contract, and the numbers below are where we would start.
The market in numbers
Local Search Competition Index
74/ 100
Ranked 177 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and also 69 of the 400 markets we cover. The higher the score, the more local businesses are competing for the same searches. How we calculate it
We score every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (including the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) compete for its residents. Cobb County scores 74, which is more contested than most.
Two things stand out about Cobb County: it is a high-income county, and it is a county with unusually many local-search businesses for its size. The eight measures below show how it compares with every other county.
Each bar compares Cobb County against all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What stands out
At $99,134, median household income in Cobb County sits above 93% of counties. Buyers in markets like this generally compare several providers online first, which puts a premium on thorough service pages, strong Google Business Profile reviews and answers to the questions they type into search and into AI assistants.
Cobb County has 776,743 residents, which ranks 85th of 3,143 U.S. counties; its population has moved +1.4% since the 2020 Census. Across all industries it has 22,147 employer locations, 28.5 per 1,000 residents.
No single place dominates Cobb County: the largest, Marietta, has about 8% of residents, and others include Smyrna (56,566), Kennesaw (34,683), Acworth (22,379) and Powder Springs (18,950). Searchers use their own town's name, so each place is its own ranking opportunity.
74% of residents (573,376 people) live outside any incorporated place, so county-level and "near me" searches matter as much as city names.
Communities
The largest places in Cobb County by resident count. A local SEO plan can build pages for any of them, one per service you offer in each.
| Community | Residents (2023 estimate) | Portion of county population |
|---|---|---|
| Marietta | 62,769 | 8% |
| Smyrna | 56,566 | 7% |
| Kennesaw | 34,683 | 4% |
| Acworth | 22,379 | 3% |
| Powder Springs | 18,950 | 2% |
| Austell (part) | 8,020 | 1% |
Data: Census Bureau Population Estimates. The list covers cities, towns and census-designated places; where a city spills into a neighboring county, we count only the part that lies in Cobb County.
Who you would rank against
We divide each local-search category's employer locations by population and compare that with the median county. Read 2.0x as twice as many businesses per resident as a typical county.
Crowding = employer locations per 10,000 residents divided by the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Counts are establishments from County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not search volumes. Method
In Cobb County, the real estate agents and brokers category is the most contested, with 646 locations at 3.3 times the typical density, up 40.7% since 2017. Law offices (588 locations, 2.6x) and beauty salons (266 locations, 2.1x) also run above a normal county. At the other end, the plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors category (204 locations) is below typical density at 0.8x, which means fewer competing sites to outrank.
Residential remodelers grew fastest, up 46.8% since 2017 to 298 locations, so new rivals keep arriving there. General automotive repair went the other way, down 4.8% to 179 locations. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 604 of 646 locations (93%) have fewer than five employees.
One caution: the table counts businesses, not searches. We have no search volumes or traffic for any keyword, and we do not claim any; a crowded category means more sites in the race, not a prediction of results.
Demand signal
New housing units authorized by building permits. Data: U.S. Census Bureau Building Permits Survey (county annual files, and the year-to-date bars compare the same months each year). Permits count homes approved to be built, not homes completed.
Cobb County authorized 3,247 housing units in 2021 and 1,844 in 2025, about 43% fewer; 2025 still works out to 23.7 units per 10,000 residents, less than in 56% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 1,732 against 1,473 a year earlier (+17.6%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in Cobb County are real estate agents and brokers (3.3x typical) and insurance agencies and brokerages (1.7x typical). SEO takes time to build, so start before the demand shows up; pages already indexed and ranking are the ones new households meet first.

Look-alikes are the six counties in our 400-market set closest to this one on size, income, local-search competition, small-business mix and growth. Same sources as above.
Snohomish County, WA is the closest match, scoring 69.8 against Cobb County's 74. Fulton County, GA is the furthest from it, scoring 65.1. The small-business mix differs too: 66.2% of El Paso County, CO's locations have fewer than five employees, against 63.2% here. If you already do SEO in one of these markets, the comparison shows how alike the competition is, not what your results will be.

Common questions
Pricing is flat and monthly. RankGuarantee™, our local landing page system, is $495 a month on its own. Organic Growth plans, which bring in Google Maps work, AI search optimization, content and more landing pages, run $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum). You pay no setup fee and sign no contract.
A fixed SEO timeline would not be honest. Results build gradually and depend on the competition, your website and what we can publish. Real estate agents and brokers is the most contested category in Cobb County at 3.3x typical, so it is the one to be patient with. You see the movement each month in six-month planning cycles, and you can cancel anytime.
More than most. Cobb County scores 74 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 177th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 69th of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers is the densest category here, at 3.3 times the typical county. 63.2% of local-search locations are tiny, with fewer than five employees, and tiny shops often have thin websites to outrank. If anything, it makes city-and-service pages and strong reviews matter more.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Cobb County are real estate agents and brokers (646), full-service restaurants (598) and law offices (588). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are real estate agents and brokers (3.3x) and law offices (2.6x). Size and crowding in a category do not decide whether SEO works for you; it only shows how many other sites you would share the results with.
Whichever ones you cover. Cobb County has 6 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Marietta, Smyrna, Kennesaw, Acworth and Powder Springs. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
Absolutely. All Organic Growth plans include Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, along with on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Map results matter most for searches like "near me", and much of what people search for in Cobb County depends on them.
It may. AI search (GEO) optimization is part of our plans: clean, structured pages and consistent business information give AI tools more to draw on. Nobody can guarantee an AI mention, and we do not promise one, but the same work that earns rankings builds the content those tools use.
Often both. Ads can send calls within days and charge per click; SEO takes longer but keeps working with no per-click charge. When you need leads right away, begin with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and let SEO build the asset that reduces your reliance on them.
Cancel anytime: no contract, no setup fee. Your monthly fee pays for onboarding (keyword research, a website audit and a six-month strategy), the landing pages and content in your plan, continuing page management and rank tracking, and one account manager who sends you a report each month.
