Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsBroward County has 28 places of 2,500 or more residents, and that shapes how SEO should be built here. GetPhound is an SEO agency for small businesses: city-by-city landing pages, Google Maps and AI search optimization, and flat monthly plans with no contracts. Here is the data behind the Broward County market.
The market in numbers
Local Search Competition Index
83.6/ 100
Sitting at rank 57 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 22 of the 400 markets we cover. The higher the score, the more local businesses are competing for the same searches. How the score works
We grade every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) compete for the same customers. Broward County scores 83.6, which is among the most contested markets in the country.
Two things stand out about Broward County: it is a county with many sizeable cities and towns, and it is a county where most local businesses are tiny, with fewer than five employees. The eight measures that follow place it among every other county.
Each bar places Broward County alongside all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Sources: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What shapes local search here
Many towns, many searches: Broward County counts 28 places of 2,500 or more residents (25 above 10,000), more than 99% of counties. Searchers use town names, so a business that serves several of them needs a page for each service in each town, not one page for the whole county.
Broward County has 1,962,531 residents, which ranks 17th of 3,143 U.S. counties; its population has moved +0.9% since the 2020 Census. Across all industries it has 67,274 employer locations, 34.3 per 1,000 residents.
Population by place
Here is each place's population, taken from the Census Bureau's newest estimates. People search by town name, so each of these is a separate set of searches and a possible landing page for each service you offer.
| Place name | Population (2023 estimate) | Percent of the county |
|---|---|---|
| Fort Lauderdale | 184,255 | 9% |
| Pembroke Pines | 171,119 | 9% |
| Hollywood | 153,859 | 8% |
| Miramar | 138,319 | 7% |
| Coral Springs | 134,906 | 7% |
| Pompano Beach | 113,619 | 6% |
Data: Census Bureau Population Estimates. The list covers cities, towns and census-designated places; where a city crosses into a neighboring county, just the portion inside Broward County is counted.
The field you would rank in
Here is how Broward County compares with the typical U.S. county for fifteen categories that live on Google and the map: the number of locations, how that number has moved, and how many are very small.
Crowding = employer locations per 10,000 residents divided by the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Figures are establishments from the Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), which says nothing about search volume. See the method
In Broward County, the law offices category is the most contested, with 2,517 locations at 4.5 times the typical density, up 4.1% since 2017. Real estate agents and brokers (2,025 locations, 4.2x) and accounting and CPA firms (714 locations, 3.0x) also run above a normal county.
Residential remodelers grew fastest, up 49.4% since 2017 to 862 locations, so new rivals keep arriving there. Physicians offices went the other way, down 5.4% to 1,859 locations. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 1,955 of 2,025 locations (97%) have fewer than five employees.
Keep this in mind: the table counts businesses, not searches. No keyword search volume or traffic figures are claimed here; crowding shows that more sites compete, not what results will be.
Demand signal
New housing units authorized by building permits. Source: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (county annual files; year-to-date comparison covers the same months in each year). Keep in mind that permits are approvals, not completed homes.
Broward County authorized 4,069 housing units in 2021 and 2,809 in 2025, about 31% fewer; 2025 still works out to 14.3 units per 10,000 residents, less than in 73% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 1,788 against 1,979 a year earlier (−9.7%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in Broward County are real estate agents and brokers (4.2x typical) and insurance agencies and brokerages (1.9x typical). Rankings take time, so a rise in permits is a reason to begin now, and a fall is a reason to put more weight on repair, replacement and service-specific pages.

We matched Broward County to the six markets in our 400-market set that look most like it on population, income, local-search competition and how fast the business base is growing.

| Orange County, FL | 75.1 | 1,471,416 | +2.9% | +21.9% | 64.4% |
The six look-alikes are the counties in our 400-market set that sit closest to this one on size, income, local-search competition, small-business mix and growth. Same sources as above.
Miami-Dade County, FL is the closest match, scoring 77 against Broward County's 83.6. Orange County, FL is the furthest from it, scoring 75.1. Orange County, FL has 64.4% of its local-search locations under five employees against 71% in Broward County. If you already do SEO in one of these markets, the comparison shows how alike the competition is, not what your results will be.

Questions we hear
You pay a flat monthly fee. RankGuarantee™, our system for local landing pages, is $495 a month on its own. The Organic Growth plans add Google Maps work, AI search optimization, content and more landing pages, and cost $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum). There is no setup fee and no contract.
There is no honest fixed timeline for SEO. Results build gradually and depend on the competition, your website and what we can publish. Law offices is the most contested category in Broward County at 4.5x typical, so it is the one to be patient with. We work in six-month cycles, show you the movement each month, and you can cancel anytime.
More than most. Broward County scores 83.6 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 57th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 22nd of the 400 markets we cover. Law offices leads on density, at 4.5 times the typical county. 71% of local-search locations are tiny, with fewer than five employees, and tiny shops frequently have thin websites to outrank. That makes city-and-service pages and strong reviews more important, not less.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Broward County are law offices (2,517), real estate agents and brokers (2,025) and physicians offices (1,859). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are law offices (4.5x) and real estate agents and brokers (4.2x). Size and crowding in a category do not decide whether SEO works for you; it only shows how many other sites you would share the results with.
Whichever you serve. Broward County has 28 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar and Coral Springs. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
Yes. Every Organic Growth plan includes Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, together with on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Maps rankings matter most for searches like "near me", and most of the local categories in Broward County rely on them.
It can help. We include AI search (GEO) optimization in our plans: well-structured pages and consistent business details give AI tools more to work with. We cannot promise a mention in an AI answer, and neither can anyone else, but the work that earns rankings also builds the content those tools use.
Often both. Google Ads can bring calls within days, but each click costs money; SEO takes longer but keeps working with no per-click charge. When you need leads right away, begin with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and let SEO build the asset that reduces your reliance on them.
Cancel anytime: no contract, no setup fee. The monthly fee covers onboarding (keyword research, a website audit and a six-month strategy), the landing pages and content your plan includes, page management and rank tracking, and one dedicated account manager who reports to you each month.
