Snapshot
Local Search Competition Index
57.1/ 100
Ranked 625 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and also 259 of the 400 markets we cover. The higher the score, the more local businesses are competing for the same searches. How the score works
We score every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (such as the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) compete for the same customers. St. Lucie County scores 57.1, which is close to the middle of the pack.
Two things stand out about St. Lucie County: it is one of the faster-growing counties in the country, and it is a county whose business base is expanding quickly. Eight measures below show where it stands among all counties.
Each bar sets St. Lucie County against all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Census income estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What stands out
St. Lucie County is growing: up 13.5% in population since the 2020 Census, faster than 99% of comparable counties, with 373,586 residents today. People who just arrived search for a dentist, a plumber or an accountant before they know anyone to ask, and the businesses that show up on Google and the map are the ones they call. Search visibility built now keeps working as the county keeps growing.
Port St. Lucie dominates St. Lucie County with about 66% of its residents, so rankings there matter most, but the rest of the county (Fort Pierce and St. Lucie Village) searches by its own town names.
21% of residents (78,586 people) live outside any incorporated place, so county-level and "near me" searches matter as much as city names.
New construction
Housing units authorized by building permits. Source: U.S. Census Bureau Building Permits Survey (county annual files, and the year-to-date bars compare the same months each year). Permits are authorizations, not completed homes.
St. Lucie County authorized 7,461 housing units in 2021 and 4,007 in 2025, about 46% fewer; 2025 still works out to 107.3 units per 10,000 residents, more than in 95% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 2,332 against 3,023 a year earlier (−22.9%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in St. Lucie County are real estate agents and brokers (2.1x typical) and electrical contractors (1.4x typical). Since rankings build slowly, rising permits are a reason to start today, and a fall is a reason to put more weight on repair, replacement and service-specific pages.
Who else is in the results
Each local-search category's employer locations are divided by population and compared with the median county. A reading of 2.0x means double the businesses per resident of a typical county.
Crowding is employer locations per 10,000 residents relative to the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Figures are establishments from the Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not a measure of search volume. How we calculate this
The real estate agents and brokers category is the most contested in St. Lucie County: 193 locations, 2.1x the density of a typical county, and up 45.1% since 2017. Janitorial services (100 locations, 1.8x) and physicians offices (241 locations, 1.6x) also run above a normal county. The insurance agencies and brokerages category is the least contested here at 0.8x typical (104 locations), so there are fewer rival pages for those searches.
Residential remodelers grew fastest, up 73.8% since 2017 to 146 locations, so new rivals keep arriving there. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 186 of 193 locations (96%) have fewer than five employees.
This is a headcount of local businesses. It tells you nothing about search volume or how quickly a site can climb, and we do not guess at either; it shows how many other sites you would share the results with.

Pasco County, FL is the closest match, scoring 53.2 against St. Lucie County's 57.1. Manatee County, FL is the furthest from it, scoring 70.2. The small-business mix differs too: 62% of Lake County, FL's locations have fewer than five employees, against 67.5% here. If you already do SEO in one of these markets, the comparison shows how alike the competition is, not what your results will be.
Communities
Population by place, from the Census Bureau's latest estimates. People search by town name, so each of these is a separate set of searches and a possible landing page for each service you offer.

| Port St. Lucie | 245,021 | 66% |
| Fort Pierce | 49,374 | 13% |
| St. Lucie Village | 605 | 0% |

You work with one account manager and see the numbers each month. If you also want ads, we manage Google, Bing and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) as well.

Questions we hear
We bill one flat monthly fee with no setup fee and no contract: $495 for RankGuarantee™ landing pages, or $1,495, $2,495 or $3,495 for the Silver, Gold and Platinum Organic Growth plans. Gold and Platinum include a fully managed, custom-built website.
Nobody can promise a date for SEO, because it builds gradually. How quickly pages climb depends on how crowded your category is, how strong your website and Google Business Profile are, and how much we can publish. In St. Lucie County, real estate agents and brokers is particularly contested (2.1x a typical county), so expect that category to take longer. We work in six-month planning cycles, with no contract, and report each month.
About average. St. Lucie County scores 57.1 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 625th of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 259th of the 400 markets we cover. Real estate agents and brokers leads on density, at 2.1 times the typical county. 67.5% of local-search locations are tiny, with fewer than five employees, and tiny shops often have thin websites to outrank. That is a reason to start early: consistent SEO tends to hold ground where fewer rivals are building.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in St. Lucie County are physicians offices (241), full-service restaurants (203) and real estate agents and brokers (193). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are real estate agents and brokers (2.1x) and janitorial services (1.8x). A big or crowded category does not decide whether SEO works for you; it shows how many other sites you would be sharing the results with.
Whichever ones you cover. St. Lucie County has 2 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
We do. Every Organic Growth plan includes Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, plus on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Maps rankings matter most for searches like "near me", and most of the local categories in St. Lucie County rely on them.
It can help. We include AI search (GEO) optimization in our plans: well-structured pages and consistent business details give AI tools more to work with. No one can guarantee a mention in an AI answer, and we do not promise one, but the work behind rankings is also the content those tools draw from.
Usually a mix of both. Ads can send calls within days and charge per click; SEO builds more slowly and then works without paying per click. When you need leads right away, begin with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and use SEO to build the asset that lowers your dependence on them.
There is no setup fee, and you can cancel anytime. Each month you get the keyword research, website audit and six-month strategy up front, then the pages and content in your tier, rank tracking, and a single account manager familiar with your St. Lucie County business.
