Here is the data behind the Bucks County market.
Market snapshot
Local Search Competition Index
86.8/ 100
Sitting at rank 31 of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 9 of the 400 markets we cover. A higher score means more local businesses are competing for the same searches. See the method
We grade every U.S. county-equivalent with 20,000 or more residents on how many local-search businesses (including the lawyers, dentists, contractors, restaurants, salons and agents that customers find on Google and the map) compete for its residents. Bucks County scores 86.8, which is among the most contested markets in the country.
Two features set Bucks County apart: it is a county with many sizeable cities and towns, and it is also a high-income county. Eight measures below show where it stands among all counties.
The bars place Bucks County against all 1,822 U.S. counties with 20,000 or more residents. Data from: Census Bureau population estimates, County Business Patterns (2017 and 2022), Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates and the Building Permits Survey.
What stands out
Many towns, many searches: Bucks County counts 11 places of 2,500 or more residents, more than 94% of counties. Searchers use town names, so a business that serves several of them needs a page for each service in each town, not one page for the whole county.
Bucks County has 645,984 residents, which ranks 110th of 3,143 U.S. counties, with population change of −0.1% since the 2020 Census. Across all industries it has 20,043 employer locations, 31.0 per 1,000 residents.
87% of residents (562,223 people) live outside any incorporated place, so county-level and "near me" searches matter as much as city names.
The field you would rank in
We divide each local-search category's employer locations by population and compare that with the median county. Read 2.0x as twice as many businesses per resident as a typical county.
Crowding = employer locations per 10,000 residents divided by the median U.S. county of 20,000+ residents (1.0x is typical; the dark tick marks it). Figures are establishments from the Census County Business Patterns (2017, 2022), not a measure of search volume. See the method
In Bucks County, the residential remodelers category is the most contested, with 608 locations at 3.1 times the typical density, up 14.1% since 2017. Beauty salons (283 locations, 2.7x) and roofing contractors (93 locations, 2.5x) also run above a normal county.
Real estate agents and brokers grew fastest, up 43.2% since 2017 to 265 locations, so new rivals keep arriving there. Physicians offices went the other way, down 23.6% to 339 locations. The tiniest competitors are in real estate agents and brokers: 237 of 265 locations (89%) have fewer than five employees.
The figures show who competes, not how much demand there is. How many people search for a service and how quickly a page can rank depend on factors public data does not show, so treat a crowded category as a reason to plan and a quiet one as an opening.
Demand signal
New housing units authorized by building permits. Data: the U.S. Census Bureau's Building Permits Survey (annual files by county, plus a year-to-date comparison of identical months). Keep in mind that permits are approvals, not completed homes.
Bucks County authorized 984 housing units in 2021 and 691 in 2025, about 30% fewer; 2025 still works out to 10.7 units per 10,000 residents, less than in 80% of counties. For January through August, permits are running at 512 against 440 a year earlier (+16.4%).
The construction-linked categories already most contested in Bucks County are residential remodelers (3.1x typical) and roofing contractors (2.5x typical). Because SEO builds gradually, the best time to start is before demand arrives; new households meet the pages that are already indexed and ranking.

Clackamas County, OR is the closest match, scoring 79.6 against Bucks County's 86.8. The small-business mix differs too: 65.4% of Arapahoe County, CO's locations have fewer than five employees, against 61.4% here. If you already do SEO in one of these markets, the comparison shows how alike the competition is, not what your results will be.

FAQ
Pricing is flat and monthly. RankGuarantee™, our system for local landing pages, is $495 a month on its own. Organic Growth plans, which add Google Maps work, AI search optimization, content and more landing pages, are $1,495 (Silver), $2,495 (Gold) and $3,495 (Platinum). No setup fee, no contract.
A fixed SEO timeline would not be honest. Rankings take time and depend on the competition, your site and the work we publish. Residential remodelers is the most contested category in Bucks County at 3.1x typical, so it is the one to be patient with. We plan in six-month cycles and show you the movement monthly, and you can cancel anytime.
More than most. Bucks County scores 86.8 on our Local Search Competition Index, ranking 31st of 1,822 counties with 20,000+ residents and 9th of the 400 markets we cover. Residential remodelers, at 3.1 times the typical county. 61.4% of local-search locations are tiny, with fewer than five employees, and tiny shops frequently have thin websites to outrank. That makes city-and-service pages and strong reviews more important, not less.
Across the fifteen categories we track, the largest by employer locations in Bucks County are residential remodelers (608), landscaping services (508) and full-service restaurants (496). Measured against a typical county, the most contested are residential remodelers (3.1x) and beauty salons (2.7x). A large or crowded category does not settle whether SEO will work for you; it shows how many other sites you would be sharing the results with.
The ones you serve. Bucks County has 11 places of 2,500 or more residents, led by Bristol, Morrisville, Perkasie, Quakertown and Doylestown. RankGuarantee™ builds local landing pages for each service in each city you serve (25 new pages a month on the $495 plan, 25 to 100 on Organic Growth), so the plan follows your service area, not the county line.
We do. Every Organic Growth plan includes Google Business Profile optimization, citations and review management, together with on-page and technical SEO, strategic content and AI search (GEO) work. Maps rankings matter most for searches like "near me", and most local categories in Bucks County depend on them.
It may. AI search (GEO) optimization is part of our plans: clean, structured pages and consistent business information give AI tools more to draw on. No one can guarantee a mention in an AI answer, and we do not promise one, but the same work that earns rankings builds the content those tools use.
Often both. Google Ads can send calls within days and costs per click; SEO takes longer to build and keeps working without a per-click charge. If you need leads now, start with ads (we manage Google Ads, Bing and Meta too) and use SEO to build the asset that lowers your dependence on them.
Cancel anytime: no contract, no setup fee. What you pay each month includes onboarding (keyword research, a website audit and a six-month strategy), the pages and content that come with your plan, page management and rank tracking, and one dedicated account manager who reports to you each month.
